01Agreement
These Terms of Service form a contract between you, the owner or person responsible for the dog (“you”, the “client”), and Doggieville MTL. You accept them when you create a client account, book a service, sign our intake or evaluation form, or leave your dog in our care. They apply to Sam’s Lodge, DV Playcare, Chloe’s Spaw, Yoda’s Splash, Ruby Café MTL and Lola’s Corner, together with any service-specific rules shown on our website, in our booking system or posted on site.
You confirm that you are at least 18 years old, that you own the dog or are authorized by its owner to make these decisions, and that the information you give us is true and complete. You agree to tell us right away if it changes.
02Your rights under Québec law
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act (Québec), the Civil Code of Québec or any other law that cannot be waived by contract. If a clause is found to be unenforceable, it is limited to the extent allowed by law, and the rest of these Terms remains in force.
03Evaluation and eligibility
Every new dog completes an evaluation before joining boarding, daycare or group activities. A one-time evaluation fee of $80 applies. The evaluation helps us understand your dog’s temperament, play style and comfort around people and other dogs.
Admission is at our discretion. We may decline, limit or end a service at any time, before or after the evaluation, if we believe a dog is not suited to our environment or presents a risk to itself, other dogs or people. When we end a service early for this reason, you pay only for the services provided.
04Health and vaccinations
- Your dog must be in good health and up to date on the vaccines listed in our requirements, as confirmed by written proof from a licensed veterinarian. Proof must be on file before the first visit and kept current.
- Your dog must be on regular flea, tick and parasite prevention.
- Dogs must meet the age and spay/neuter requirements shown for the service booked.
- You must tell us about any illness, injury, allergy, surgery, medication, pregnancy, heat cycle, behaviour change, history of biting or aggression, or contact with a sick animal. Our team may refuse admission or separate a dog that shows signs of illness or that we were not informed about.
- If your dog shows signs of a contagious condition during or within a few days after a visit, please tell us so we can protect other dogs.
Even when every dog is vaccinated and the facility is cleaned and filtered daily, dogs that socialize can catch common illnesses such as canine infectious respiratory disease (“kennel cough”), parasites or stomach upsets, as they can in any park or public place. Vaccination lowers this risk but does not remove it.
05Group play and inherent risks
Playing with other dogs is natural and good for most dogs, and it carries some risks that cannot be fully eliminated even with close supervision. You acknowledge and accept that these risks include:
- Minor scratches, nicks, nail tears, pad abrasions, muscle strains and similar injuries from running and play.
- Bites or injuries from another dog, even one that has passed its evaluation.
- Stress-related reactions such as loose stools, reduced appetite, weight changes, excessive thirst or barking.
- Contagious illnesses and parasites, as described above.
- Wear, damage or loss of collars, harnesses, leashes, toys, bedding and other belongings.
Our staff are trained in pet first aid and CPR, supervise play at all times, group dogs by size and temperament, and follow a written incident procedure. If something happens, we will care for your dog, contact you and give you a written account.
06Veterinary care and emergencies
If your dog is injured or becomes ill in our care, we will try to reach you and your emergency contact. You authorize Doggieville MTL to obtain veterinary care that we judge necessary for your dog’s health or safety, from your veterinarian or, if they are unavailable or the situation is urgent, from the nearest available clinic, and to transport your dog there.
You are responsible for all veterinary and transport costs, except where the injury or illness was caused by the fault of Doggieville MTL or its staff. We will always try to follow your instructions, but in an emergency we may act before reaching you.
07Food, medication and belongings
- Bring your dog’s usual food in labelled, pre-portioned bags or containers. Sudden diet changes can upset digestion.
- Bring medication in its original pharmacy container with written instructions. We give oral and topical medication as instructed, but we cannot guarantee that a dog will accept every dose. Injections and controlled substances must be arranged in advance.
- Label personal items. We are not responsible for belongings left with us except in case of our fault, and we recommend leaving valuable or sentimental items at home.
08Behaviour
You agree that your dog has not, to your knowledge, bitten or seriously injured a person or animal, unless you told us in writing before booking. If your dog shows aggressive or unsafe behaviour, we may separate it, place it in individual care, call you to pick it up early, or refuse future bookings. You are responsible, as the law provides, for damage or injury your dog causes to people, other dogs or our property, unless it results from our fault.
09Bookings, cancellations and no-shows
- Bookings are confirmed through our booking system or in writing by our team. Peak periods and holidays may require a deposit or have minimum stays, which are shown before you confirm.
- There is no cancellation fee when you cancel more than 3 business days before the service.
- Late cancellations, changes and no-shows may be charged the fee shown in our booking system at the time of booking.
- Early pick-up from boarding does not entitle you to a refund of unused nights unless the law requires it or we agree otherwise.
10Prices and payment
Prices are shown on our website and in our booking system, in Canadian dollars, before GST and QST. Prices may change, but the price confirmed when you book applies to that booking. Payment is due at check-out or as shown in the booking system. You authorize us to charge the card on file for services you booked or received, including late pick-up and agreed extra services. Packages and credits are used under the conditions shown at purchase.
11Drop-off, pick-up and unclaimed dogs
- Drop-off and pick-up happen during our posted hours: Monday to Friday 8 am to 6 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 3 pm. Holiday hours appear on our website.
- Your dog arrives and leaves on a leash or in a carrier.
- We release your dog only to you or to a person you have authorized in your client file. We may ask for photo ID.
- If your dog is not picked up by closing time, boarding charges at the current rate apply. If your dog is not picked up at the end of the booking and we cannot reach you or your emergency contacts after reasonable efforts, we will continue to care for your dog at your expense and may, after giving written notice to the contact details in your file, take the measures the law allows, including placing the dog with a shelter or rescue organization.
12Chloe’s Spaw grooming
Grooming results depend on coat condition, behaviour and health. Severely matted coats may need to be shaved for your dog’s comfort; matting can hide skin issues that become visible after grooming. Senior dogs and dogs with health conditions can find grooming tiring. Our groomers may stop a session if a dog is too stressed or at risk of injury, and you pay only for the work completed. Please tell us about skin conditions, lumps, sensitivities or past grooming reactions.
13Yoda’s Splash pool
Swimming and hydrotherapy are physical activities. Dogs with heart, respiratory, orthopaedic or other health conditions should have their veterinarian’s approval before swimming. Dogs are supervised in the water at all times and may be required to wear a life jacket. When you are in the pool area with your dog, you follow the posted pool rules and staff instructions, you are responsible for supervising any children with you, and you enter the water at your own risk except in case of our fault.
14Ruby Café MTL and Lola’s Corner
Dogs visiting Ruby Café MTL and Lola’s Corner stay on a leash and under their owner’s control at all times. You are responsible for your dog’s behaviour and for any damage it causes. Tell our staff about food allergies before ordering. Returns and exchanges at Lola’s Corner follow the store policy posted in the boutique, without limiting your legal warranties.
15Photos, video and cameras
We love sharing our fur guests’ days. You authorize Doggieville MTL to take photos and videos of your dog during services and to use them on our website, social media and promotional material, without payment. We do not publish your last name or contact details. If you prefer that your dog not appear, tell us in writing and we will respect your choice for future content. Our premises are monitored by cameras, as described in our Privacy Policy.
16Release and limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law:
- Doggieville MTL, its owners, employees and agents are not responsible for injury, illness, loss or damage that results from the inherent risks described in these Terms, from your dog’s own behaviour or health condition, from information you did not disclose, or from events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure), when there has been no fault on our part.
- We are not responsible for indirect losses, such as travel changes or lost income, that could not reasonably have been foreseen when the contract was made.
- You release Doggieville MTL from claims arising from those risks and events, and you agree to reimburse Doggieville MTL for costs and claims caused by your dog or by a breach of these Terms by you.
This clause does not limit our liability for bodily or moral injury caused to a person, for damage caused by our intentional or gross fault, or for any liability that Québec law does not allow us to exclude.
17General
- Changes. We may update these Terms. The version in effect when you book applies to that booking. Significant changes will be announced on our website or by email.
- Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes are heard by the competent courts of the judicial district of Montréal, without limiting any right you have to sue in the district where you live.
- Language. These Terms are available in French and English. Both versions have the same value. The French version was made available to you first; by accepting the English version, you expressly choose to be bound by it.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, the service rules in our booking system and your signed intake forms are the whole agreement between us about our services.
