Most places on this list allow dogs. Ruby Café MTL was made for them: your dog gets a seat at the table, a water bowl when you sit down and a menu of its own, homemade in the café’s kitchen. Humans get brunch, specialty lattes and cocktails.
Rue Saint-Patrick and the canal are the dog-friendliest stretch of the city: two breweries, a café made for dogs and an off-leash park within a few kilometres, all a short walk from the canal path.

Since spring 2025, restaurants, cafés and bars in Québec may welcome dogs in their outdoor service areas. Bill 85 was amended on March 25, 2025 and received assent on April 9, 2025. Each owner decides, and there is no official list of participating terraces. When a terrace does accept dogs, the province’s guidance asks for this:
Look for the Association Restauration Québec dog sticker in the window, or simply ask the host before you sit down.
