Brunch With Your Dog in Montreal: A Guide to Ruby Café MTL
Finding a Montreal café where your dog can come inside, not just tie up outside, is harder than it should be. Ruby Café MTL was made for it: your dog sits at the table with you, and there is a menu for both of you. Here is what to know before you go, a few café manners for dogs, and how to turn brunch into a full dog day out.

- Where: on the ground floor of Doggieville MTL, 3824 Rue Saint-Patrick, in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest, minutes from Griffintown, Saint-Henri, Verdun and downtown
- When: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 3 pm
- Reservations: required, especially at peak times. The Ruby Café MTL page has the reservation link and the café’s phone number
- Dogs: all well-behaved, socialized breeds are welcome, on a leash at all times
- Parking: free, on site
03Café manners for dogs
- Walk first: a dog who had a good walk and a potty break settles faster under the table
- Bring a small mat or blanket so your dog has a spot of their own
- Keep the leash short, so your dog stays by your chair and out of the way of servers
- Let dogs greet only if both owners agree, and keep greetings short
- Watch for stress, like panting, yawning, whining or trying to leave, and take a break outside if needed
- Accidents happen: cleaning stations are there to help
04Dog birthday parties
Ruby Café MTL hosts pet birthday parties. Call the café to plan yours: birthday cakes for dogs are baked to order and paid in advance. A few tips for a happy party:
- Invite dogs who already know and like each other
- Keep the guest list small enough that every dog stays relaxed
- Ask guests about food allergies before ordering treats
- Plan a walk along the canal before the party to take the edge off
05Make it a dog day out
Everything at Doggieville MTL is under one roof, so brunch can be part of a full day with your dog:
- Before brunch: a walk on the Lachine Canal path, right next door
- After brunch: a private swim at Yoda’s Splash, the heated indoor dog pool, open 7 days
- A bath at Chloe’s Spaw, or a walk-in nail trim
- Treats, toys and food at Lola’s Corner, the boutique inside Doggieville MTL
